Our history
- After overcoming breast cancer, Missionary Amelia Hendricks found herself searching for a deeper purpose in life. Grateful for her healing, she reflected on the joy she always felt when helping others, whether by feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, or simply offering kindness to those in despair. Determined to make a lasting impact, she in collaboration with two friends founded an organization dedicated to serving the less fortunate, believing in the promise of Psalm 41:1-2, “Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble, the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive.” With every meal served and every life touched, she saw her purpose unfold— proving that true joy comes from giving, and blessings follow those who care for others.

Meet Our Board CEO Amelia Hendrix
- Amelia Hedrix, is a passionate advocate for those in need, driven by a lifelong commitment to service. For 25 years, she worked in social services in Brooklyn, NY, diligently supporting vulnerable populations. Her experience navigating challenges – including surviving breast cancer and witnessing the devastation of 9/11 firsthand have solidified her dedication to making a tangible difference. Currently, Amelia serves as a missionary and the CEO of Destiny Connector, Inc. in New York State and Africa, focusing on building housing, feeding children, and providing clean water for orphans. She's also proud to support Emanuel, the first of many students, through college tuition. Amelia is a mother of four, grandmother of thirteen, and a great-grandmother of one. She believes in the power of community and actively works with Breakthrough Ministries, in Brooklyn and can be found traveling and meeting new people to share her vision for outreach. Marcia Chandler
- For 64 years, I've called New York home. As a member of the Deliverance Breakthrough Ministry, my heart has always been drawn to helping others. This passion ignited at 17 when I cared for a senior citizen during a summer. This experience laid the foundation for my 35-year career as a nurse's assistant at Glen Cove Hospital (Northwell), where I found immense fulfillment in caring for the sick. My service expanded beyond the hospital walls in the 1990s, when I partnered with a ministry providing food and clothing to those in need in Haiti. Years later, a conversation with Amelia Hendrix revealed an urgent need in Africa, a call I felt compelled to answer. The heartbreaking stories of orphaned children further solidified my dedication. Through Destiny Connector, I was able to contribute to a project providing clean water, a tangible impact on a community far from home. This experience underscored the power of compassion—how one person's actions can ripple across the globe. My own large family—I'm the sixth of eight children, with twelve nieces and nephews and numerous grand-nieces and nephews—has nurtured my love for community and connection. When I'm not serving the homeless at my church on Wednesdays, you might find me curled up with a book, walking in the park, or enjoying the soaring beauty of opera.

Gail Hill
- Gail, a lifelong resident of Long Island New York with 59 years under her belt, embodies the spirit of community and unwavering compassion. A dedicated mother of three and a proud grandmother to a 6-month-old, Gail's nurturing nature extends far beyond her immediate family. Inspired by her own mother's open-door policy and early experiences assisting childhood friends, she has dedicated her life to uplifting those facing life's most daunting challenges. With over two decades of experience as a care coordinator at Harmony Health Care in Long Island New York, Gail has passionately advocated for individuals grappling with mental illness, substance abuse, and complex medical needs. This unwavering commitment led her to Destiny Connector, Inc., compelled by a heartbreaking story of a vulnerable woman in Africa. Now, leveraging her extensive expertise and powerful voice, Gail strives to bring hope and vital resources to underserved communities, ensuring everyone, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to thrive. When not championing the vulnerable, Gail enjoys indulging in her hobbies: reading, listening to music, and strolling along the beach, recharging her spirit for the important work ahead.

Robert A. Chambers
- Driven by a passion for service and a strong foundation in finance and education, I am a dedicated father, author, and school administrator from Baldwin, NY. My journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the State University of New York, Old Westbury, followed by a Master's degree in Supervision and Administration from TOURO College New York. Early career experiences in service-oriented roles, from support care at a local hospital to caregiving at St. Christopher Otillie and supervising activities at the Boys & Girls Club, solidified my commitment to community impact. After several years as a client financial analyst, my passion for education led me back to the public school system, where I have thrived for the past 14 years, ascending from a math teacher to an elementary school principal. As a native New Yorker of 52 years, my commitment to fostering learning and growth extends beyond the classroom. I bring a unique blend of financial acumen and educational expertise to my role as CFO of Destiny Connector, Inc. I am excited to leverage my skills to ensure the organization's financial compliance and stability, enabling it to make a significant impact in New York and abroad. My personal interests include cooking, golfing, and coaching my children in various sports, reflecting my dedication to family and a well-rounded life.
